The origins of my pet mascot

What the Hell is this?

That would be the little mascot I adopted. Yes, it has a story.

You see, when things go wrong for me I don't blame nature or deity. I blame gremlins. It's been a long-running joke that those near and dear to me have just come to accept that the little buggers just might be real. (Seriously, there have been some extremely uncanny things that have gone awry over the years to the point where blaming gremlins is the most logical explanation to be found!)

So a couple years ago I decided that the only way to appease these mischievous little critters was to just acknowledge their highly questionable existence and accept that I'm going to be plagued by them. So when I found this adorable little old woodcutting that reminded me a little of both one of my cats and all of my ferrets... well, I adopted a gremlin.

It doesn't have a name, but it doesn't need one either. Its likeness can be found on my business card, the bumper sticker on my car, my coffee (tea) mug, my keychain, my website, my blog, and even serves as my avatar on some social forums.

I have noticed that ever since I started using the image, the gremlins wreck havoc on my home and studio a lot less frequently. I guess they just needed a little love.
