Believe it or not, this is not a plea for charity donations to put toward a film project. This is an honest-to-goodness revenue-sharing investment opportunity.
We've spent about two years putting this package together and test-marketing the story both in screenplay competitions and with the short prologue film "The Family Way: Coming Home." After such a positive response with both, we knew that this film had to be made. But more importantly, it had to be made well.
That costs money. Lots of it.
Truth be told, we're not looking for too much when you consider that Hollywood considers anything under five million dollars to be "low budget". And unlike a lot of Hollywood movies that I've been seeing lately, this story is strong enough not to have to be dependent on a big star or outrageous special effects to carry it. (Not that I'd not consider an offer from a big name star to be in it if he/she was willing to work for SAG-ULB rates.)
The cast we do have in place is pretty solid. (We left a few roles open to be cast after we achieve minimal financing, as many actors don't like signing on to a project that's not already financed and ready to go.)
The crew is an award-winning team. (Not just awards for "Coming Home"!) We're planning to use some pretty cutting-edge technology in the camera and audio departments.
And the location is gorgeous, and more importantly, perfect.
So we have most of the elements needed to make this movie already in place. It just needs financing... and that, dear reader, is where people like you come in.
As I mentioned before, this isn't a donation-based fundraiser. It's a revenue-sharing investment platform. That means that if the film does well, so do the investors.
It also means that you don't have to be wealthy in order to qualify for investment, like you would for more traditional investing.
