In December and January I had a period of time where I didn't have any film projects to prep for, so that demented muse of mine took me off into a completely out-of-the-blue direction... jewelry-making.
My friend Justine Greene (who has years of experience in this sort of thing) and I teamed up to create Justiva Jewelry. I'll admit, I've been having a blast playing with gemstones and pearls for the past two months. (I'm partial to smokey quartz, garnet, and brown pearl combination.)
But by the end of January, it was time for me to turn my mind back to my usual gore and mayhem. This started with attending the premiere of The Housewife Slasher (See the website for more showing dates) and went right into doing more work for the film Dangerous People (which I can't wait to see when its finished.)
My husband, D. Duckie Rodriguez, has been coming out to play more and lending a hand with Dangerous People as a stunt and fight coordinator, and it is always fun to work side-by-side with him to orchestrate really intense FX scenes.
In fact, most of the members of our company, Siren Productions have been assisting me on my FX jobs, so much so that we're considering putting our collective focus on those services as a team. Don't get me wrong, we still have plans to produce more films in the future. It's just been hard to start a new project with some of us getting called out to play with others all the time.
But I can pretty much guarantee that when we do start another Siren film, it will have plenty of FX in it!
